Sad news for us wine lovers.
Robert Mondavi passed away this afternoon. Years ago when I was first starting to acquire a love for wine, I read his
biography, Harvest of Joy. (Pretty good book, if you like a quick read.) He really is the one who put wine on the map for California. He was a huge philanthropist too. Back in 1999, I had a chance to visit the Napa Winery, and his wine has been one of my favorites for years. I'll be sure to raise a glass to you this weekend, Mr. Mondavi.
