Outside of New Orleans...

NOLA NOTES, one of my favorite writers, posted this on Sunday: http://www.nolanotes.com/2008/09/07/not_a_big_enough_story/.
Please take a minute to read and then come back to my comments.

Go one. I'm waiting! ...

It's true. The media were almost disappointed that nothing major happened to New Orleans. Within hours, they were out of the city and moved on to another "big story". But they haven't shown much of the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav.

My sister who lives south of New Orleans, still has NO electricity (it's been 10 days now). My parents still can't use city water due to the horrible smell. Public schools are closed for several more days.

And where is the media!? Why is Gustav so easily forgotten?

It was similar here after Charlie. We were all over the news for a day or two. But then they stopped talking about it and we were without power for over a week with severe damage...well not as severe as Lousiana...but it was still bad.

I'm sorry Jen. I know this hits close to home but either way, it's just not right!

The media s****. My 82 year old mother was without drinkable water for 4 months after Katrina. But 2 weeks after the storm that was old news. That is one of the lessons to me. The media is only about what America wants to hear. If it doesn't affect NYC or LA, forget about it!
