White Denim is in!

White denim became a hot trend last spring, and it can still be seen in stores this season.

Ann Taylor Loft is promoting an array of white denim jeans, crop pants, shorts and skirts. With so many choices you can't go wrong.

Looking for a bigger bargain? Kohl's also has a great selection of white denim crop pants, most under $20. Try the Lee Downtown Denim Capris or the Candie's Zipper Denim Crop Pant.

For something a little more funky, try New York & Company's City Style White Denim Vest.

Of course wearing denim can be tricky. Here are a few tips:
  • Remember, denim stretches so if you are undecided between two sizes, go with the smaller size.

  • Look for lighter weight denim as summer approaches.

  • Wear nude colored undergarments (if you accidentally sit in water you will appreciate this tip!)

  • White denim looks especially great with a dark colored top.

Go ahead and pick up a white denim piece today. You'll sure to be a fan.

I hate to be at home alone

This sounds crazy but I hate to be at home alone during the night. (I know I am a grown woman for god's sake!) In fact, I got so scared one night when my hubby was out of town, that I literally did NOT sleep at all. Not one wink. I laid there for hours, twisting and turning....and listening to every little noise, thinking someone was trying to get into my home. (Any of you like that!?)

I needed "peace of mind". I needed to know that someone would be there in the middle of the night to help me if needed. So hubby had a choice...fly my mom (yup his Mother In Law) to our home everytime he was called out of town or get me a security system. Guess which one he chose? ha.

So, last year, my hubby finally got us a wireless security system. We have no home phone so I didn't think we could get security, but today's options are great.

GE Home Security offers some great packages -- many offering FREE wireless systems right now. For example, the silver package gives you a system (a $595 VALUE!) AT NO CHARGE. I love freebies. And monitoring for only $34.95 a month. This includes all the great benefits you would expect in a quality system--things like voice monitoring, yard signs, door chime, etc.

You can call toll free today at 877-470-2751. FYI, if you call this specific number you get 2 keychain remotes with your order.

Sunglasses for YOUR face shape

Every girl loves a great pair of sunglasses but do you know how to properly shop for the shape of your face?

Oversized sunglasses (pictured, Target $16.99), made popular by Paris Hilton, have been the trend for the past two years. They complement women who have an oval shaped face or a larger nose.

On the other hand, smaller glassses with a straight frame (think square) are a great match for those with a round shaped face.

Aviator sunglasses (or those with thin rims) can be worn by those with a triangular shaped face (larger forhead and narrow chin).

If you have a long narrow (oblong) face, make sure your eyewear frames cover the center of your face as much as possible.

No matter what your face shape, remember to always protect your eyes by purchasing shades that offer UV protection.

You CAN wear white before Memorial Day

It's okay to break the rules once in a while.

Wearing white before Memorial Day CAN be done--if done correctly. Just "play up" your white outfit with bold accessories or coordinating pieces.

For the weekend, you can't go wrong with the American Living Floral Eyelet Dress (JCP.com, $75). The A-line fit is sure to flatter all figures! For added flair, pair up this great dress with a Half Sleeve Crewneck Cardigan in Shocking Pink for a great Spring look (Ann Taylor Loft, $44.)

For a casual look, try a flirty white top, such as the SONOMA life + style® Floral Trapeze Top (Kohl's $21.99), with a pair of linen bermuda shorts (Old Navy, $20.00).

A pair of white jeans can also work this Spring. Try the Charter Club Slim-Leg Cropped Jeans (Macy's, $34.98 PICTURED) or Norma Kamali - Women's Straight-Leg White Jeans (Wal-Mart, $15). Pair with a scoop neck printed top (Sears, $9.99) for a great look.

Enjoy this warm spring weather--and know, it is okay to wear (some) white before Memorial Day!

Hairbows for you little girl

Princess Mimi has worn hairbows for a long time now. I love the way they look on her. But I will be honest, the nice looking ones can be expensive, especially at salons and boutiques. Last week I took a chance and order some off ebay.com...and WOW, they are the best bows.

If you want to learn more, check out Emma's Boutique Bows on ebay. You'll be pleased!: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Emmas-boutique-bows__W0QQ_armrsZ1

Blogversary!!

Today is my Blogoversary!
THANK YOU to all of you, my great blog friends, for reading me this past year!
You're the best!!

Today's Outing: Ponce Inlet Lighthout

We took the kids to Ponce Inlet Lighthouse today. It is about 1.5 hours from Orlando. This is Florida's tallest lighthouse, located just south of Daytona Beach. (They were more amused by the neighboring playground, hehe! So we didn't pay the admission to climb up to the top).

We also stoped by the Marine Science Center for "Turtle Day". This is where they rehabilitate turtles and seabirds.

Then we hit the beach! I love Florida!
Kids playing in the sand
I love that you can drive and park on the beach ($5 fee) in Volusia County! It makes it so much easier to unpack everything with the kids.

Pick up a "fun" handbag this spring!

In the fall,a nice leather bag is a great accessory, but in the spring a fun, colorful tote is the way to go.

For those who prefer the hobo bag, the axcess Roxanne Floral Hobo is a great choice (Kohls, $24.99), as is the Sophia Caperelli® 'Durango' Hobo (JCP, $50.99)

If you like a clutch, try a nice summer color like the yellow Style&co. "Shiny Oval" Clutch (Macys, $40.00).

For those of us who needs a larger bag, try Old Navy's Women's Printed Canvas Totes (Old Navy, $12.50) which comes in a number of bold prints; or the Land's End Roll Up Market Tote ($14.50) which can be monogrammed for an additonal fee.

If you want a "fun" bag, two recommendations are the Xhilaration® Floral Print Twin Tote - Yellow (Target, $12.99--pictured) and the Peacock Feathers Tote (Forever 21, $5.50).

Last, for those who like a classic top-zip closure bag, check out the Fossil "Erin" Stachel (Dillard's, $88.00).

Be sure to show your personality this spring by selecting a fun new handbag!

Time to pull out the sandals

No denying that it's Spring-- which means it's time to pull out the sandals.

In this economy it's tough to justify a pair of monogrammed Bonannos, but after careful searching you can find cheaper alternatives.

Easter Cookies (from Southern Living)

I decided at the last minute to make cut-out cookies for Easter. I found a great recipe in this month's Southern Living: http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=1886355.

For the icing I just mixed 1 c. powdered sugar, 2 Tbsp Water, a dash of Lemon Juice and dye.

Simple and quick. Oh, and yummy too!
