Recipe: Pound Cake (a summer favorite)

Last week, my new Southern Living magazine arrived. There were several pound cake recipes, and I made the Strawberry Swirl Cream Cheese poundcake. Let me just say, AMAZING! You can find the recipe here.

The Beach...in FEBRUARY!

It wasz 86 degrees out in Florida today so we head to the beach! (Ironically, we live 45 to 60 minutes from the east coast, yet only go to the beach 3 or 4 times a year). Today was perfect. The water was COLD but my kids don't really like to go "in" anyways. They prefer to play in the sand and make castles. I love that you can park on the beach in Volusia county. Perfect for my van . We don't have to unpack and carry everything. It's right there with us!

ALOHA: Redecorating Princess's Bedroom

Princess Mimi is now 5-1/2, and wants a bigger bed. So we moved her twin bed out, and put in a full size today. She was ready to move past the Princess stage, and now wants an Aloha/Island surf themed room. (Her walls are painted pink so I am okay with this!). I am sure this is all due to her new American Girl Doll, Kanani.

Our First American Girl

Yup, I did it...I broke down and got my Princess her first American Girl doll. At first she wanted the "look like me" doll but then Kanani came out at the first of the year, a Hawaiian girl, and she changed her mind. (Our nephew is stationed in Hawaii).
